Feeling powerless, peeved, or even a little despondent?
If you’re anywhere nearly as infuriated as I am at the rolling Trump/Musk/Vance coup, a coup that is upending our lives and the lives of many people we know—Monday’s activities offer an outlet.
Tomorrow, Monday, February 17th, aka Presidents’ Day, there are two consecutive demonstrations set to occur in Spokane. The first, meeting at twelve noon at the Red Wagon (corner of Stevens/Washington and W. Spokane Falls Blvd) is organized by a consortium of local groups listed on the flyer below. Dress warmly, bring signs, meet other like-minded frustrated people, and help make our voices heard. This demonstration is expected to last until around 2PM. From there, grab a cup of coffee and migrate to [see below]
Talk with Republican friends and neighbors. Most of them didn’t vote for Elon Musk to engaging in a wholesale crippling and trashing of the function of the federal government any more than you did. (For example, see yesterday’s post—click here.)
Starting at 3PM at the corner of Garland and Division in B.A. Clark Park (see the “X” on the inset map below) is a second gathering—and another use for the same signs— and for your presence. There will be some short speeches followed by a sidewalk March up and then down the other side of Division St. on the sidewalk. The more signs and the more people the better.
Keep to the high ground,
Jerry
P.S. Perhaps the most vivid example of corruption by the Trump administration was covered in detail yesterday by Heather Cox Richardson—and as far as I can determine—was completely missed in much of the media. Here’s the link: February 14, 2025. It regards an obvious quid pro quo around the dropping of charges against the Democratic Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams—and the resignations of prominent U.S. Attorneys rather than complying with the corrupt directive. If this were any other administration this would have been front page news in every newspaper and on every news station in America.
